The Joy’s Trail – The Glengarry Trails

Joy's Trail

Joy’s Trail, a private trail made accessible to the Glengarry Trails system, is a new addition—an interconnecting link to the McCormick Trail (formerly the seasonal trail).

Joy’s trail offers something unique: a walk through a field of Sunflowers. While the McCormick Trail provides a walk on a bridge that crosses the Garry River.

Trail Highlights:

Accessible from the heart of the Red trail, Joy’s trail (in purple) and McCormick trails (in black) offers several types of sceneries.
You will be crossing wooded areas, fields and wide space paths
These trails are located on private lands. Please remain on the indicated pathways.
McCormick Trail is groomed for cross-country skying.

Fun Activities Along the Way:

Mid-way in the Joy’s trail loop you are invited to admire the view from a lookout, just follow the indications.
During the summer months enjoy the sunflowers when they are in bloom.

Choose Your Adventure:

Continue straight to the Red Trail, Green Road Trail Junction.
Turn left on to the Joy Trail in direction toward the McCormick Trail.
McCormick Trail can be accessed from the Joy Trail or County Rd 45.

Nature’s Playground:

Rest and rejuvenate on strategically placed benches, or ascend a lookout for breathtaking panoramic views.

Nature is your playground, and the memories you create will be the true treasures of your journey.

Public Parking is available in Island Park, where you can walk down to the Lochiel Street Trailhead (Red trail), or you can park at the Trailhead entrance. Note on the map, Joy’s trail is identified in Purple and the McCormick trail in Black.

Trail Etiquette

Plan Ahead and Prepare. (no sanitary facilities)
Prepare for extreme weather, hazards and emergencies, have a cell phone available as the use of the trails is unsupervised. Note that some areas on the trails may have limited cell coverage
Travel on Durable Surfaces, protect fragile vegetation by staying on the trail.
Be considerate of those around you.
Dogs must be on leash — keeps your dog and trail users safe.
Pick up after your dog and dispose in bin located at the trail entrance — no one likes stepping in dog poop!
In winter avoid tracks set for cross-country skiing.
Be aware of multi-use areas, particularly the Green Trail, which is used by snowmobiles in winter.
Cross-country runners are welcome. Be careful of tree roots, loose rocks, and other trip hazards.
