Annual General Meeting (AGM)

Mark your calendar.

Wednesday, July 20, 2022.

The Trail’s AGM will take place outdoors at Island Park, Derby Street West in Alexandria at 7:00pm on July 20th.

In case of rain, the meeting will be held in the Sandfield Centre.

Come out and support the present board of directors. Listen to the annual financial statement and a report of past activities. This is your opportunity to express your opinions and ideas to continue improvements on the trails.

You are invited to put your name forward to fill vacancies on the board. Message us on our website or contact a board member before July 20. We will also take nominations from the floor at the AGM.

Tales on the Trails Feature

May 6, 2022 was an exciting day with the unveiling of the 6th story at the “Tales on the Trails” installation.

Erected in 2020, the 10 placard holders at Lochiel Street West are meant to display local creative talent.

Do you have a story idea? Artwork? Photography? School projects?

The FGTA will take responsibility for digitization, translation, and printing for display. Contact us with your proposal to ensure it meets the criteria for display on the trails.

Walking Group

Wednesday mornings throughout the year a welcoming group of walkers can be seen on the trails.  Membership is open to anyone interested in joining us.

Community Connections

The FGTA is looking forward to the installation of a storage shed at Lochiel Street west. It is truly a community project. The Glengarry District High School woodwork shop, under the direction of teacher Ryan Winter, is building the shed. The materials were purchased using money granted to the school by the Caisse Desjardins in Alexandria.

Thank you so much!

on the Trails

Families enjoyed pumpkin painting and Easter egg hunting.

There are also ever changing decorative displays on the red trail between Alexandria and County Rd 45.

Thank you to the volunteers who ensure that the trails are an inviting location.

*** More than Bugs ***

Garry Fen has some very interesting carnivorous plants blooming in June

A great example is this Pitcher plant in the above picture. The Pitcher plant's leaf has a funnel shape that traps the insects which are then ''consumed” by the plant for added energy, mainly protein.

Here are some June flowers which can be admired on the Garry Fen trail.
