July Trail Conditions - Heinz says trails are walkable. With this heat, the moisture is drying up.  Wear sensible footwear.  Don't forget sun protection and insect repellant.  The trails are mowed and cleared for ease of hiking and to decrease brush, high grasses and risk of poison ivy.  Nonetheless, be tick-wise: wear a hat, long pants and socks - a new trails fashion is to tuck the ends of your pant-legs into your socks. Walk near the center of the trail. Check for ticks after being outdoors.  Remove ticks with tweezers (pull straight out) or a Tick-removal device. For more information on Lyme disease and the blacklegged tick - please see this Government of Ontario website.
