The Lochiel Street trailhead on the Glengarry Recreational Trails in Alexandria, Ontario, now sports an observation deck where bird watchers and trail enthusiasts can enjoy the view of Mill Pond and the surrounding area.
The Friends of Glengarry Trails Association is proud of the Glengarry Trails, a beautiful all-season 15 Km recreational trail system in the heart of the North Glengarry Township. Located in Eastern Ontario, about 1 hour from Montreal or Ottawa, and 35 min from Cornwall, the Glengarry Trails vary in length and difficulty, and are accessible all year round.
The trails are nestled in a Natural Heritage System which encompasses wetlands, woodlands, watercourses, wildlife habitat and agricultural lands. Ecosystem services maintain rich biodiversity where rare flora and fauna are found.
Constructed in 1999, with federal and municipal funding assistance, the Glengarry Trails are now financed and maintained through the generosity of volunteers and trail users. The FGTA sells memberships and holds fundraising events a couple of times a year.
We appreciate the support of our partners: North Glengarry Township, Raisin Region Conservation Authority and landowners through which the recreational trails pass.

Do you wish to know more about the natural environment of our trails? As a dynamic educational hub, our Learning Centre beckons visitors to explore the diverse ecosystems and cultural heritage that define the Glengarry region.
Be a Friend of Glengarry Trails Association and volunteer. Stay active, meet new people, share experiences, and offer your skills in various disciplines.
Being a member or making a donation helps the FGTA groom and maintain the trails and offer events; you’re supporting local conservation efforts and helping to preserve the natural environment for future generations.
A new story will soon be mounted on the trails. Written and illustrated by Ruth Stanton, this story tells of a boy bringing a surprise gift to his grandmother. It does not end quite as he expected.
Come for a stroll on the Red trail and look for the Story Boards!
